MEET OUR SUSTAINABLE FORMULAS
What does it mean of natural origin?
In Biolage, we consider that an ingredient is of natural origin if it has not changed from its natural state, or has undergone processing but still retains more than 50% of the molecular structure of its original source of vegetable or mineral origin.
Biodegradability
So that our products are not only good for you and your hair, but also for the planet it is essential that their use does not cause damage to the environment. Therefore, we develop biodegradable formulas whose residues do not cause any damage after using them.
What does biodegradable mean?
It is the ability of a biological substance to degrade by the action of microorganisms. It is measured with an internationally recognized method defined by the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development). The test consists of measuring the oxygen consumed by the bacteria, or the carbon dioxide that they reject when consuming the substance. The percentage of biodegradability of the formulas is calculated based on the biodegradability of each of its ingredients.
Green chemistry
One of our main objectives is to demonstrate that sustainability, professional results and innovation can go hand in hand. A perfect example to show that this is really possible is the green chemistry on which the development of our formulas is based.
What is green chemistry?
Green chemistry, also called sustainable chemistry, is an area of chemistry and chemical engineering focused on the design of products and processes that minimize the use and generation of hazardous substances.
Fair trade ingredients
Behind every ingredient we use there are a lot of people without whom it would not be possible to create our products. These people matter a lot to us because each one of them has a story to tell, a family to care for and a life to enjoy. Because after all, our products should not only be good for the hair, for you and for the planet, but also for all those people who help us create them day by day!
What is fair trade?
Fair trade is a solidary commercial concept that respects peoples, cultures and human rights to fight against poverty and exploitation of workers. This means that when we choose raw materials we not only look at their quality, but also the working conditions and wages of workers, non-exploitation of children and equality between women and men.
